The Portuguese national team has moved closer to qualifying for the Round of 32 of the Under-17 World Cup today, achieving another big win against Morocco, 6-0, in the second round of Group B, in Doha.
After a 6-1 victory over New Caledonia in their opening match, the European champions in the age group prevailed again with six goals, scored by João Aragão (20 minutes), Anísio Cabral (22), Mateus Mide (29 and 44, the latter from a penalty) and José Neto (46 and 60).
Portugal, participating for the fourth time in an Under-17 World Cup, after 1989, 1995 and 2003, leads Group B with six points and could confirm its qualification for the round of 16 today if Japan, second with three points, wins or draws against New Caledonia, last placed with no points, tied with Morocco.
The Portuguese team concludes its participation in Group B on Sunday against Japan, starting at 1:30 PM (Lisbon time), in a competition that runs until November 27th in Qatar, where the top two teams from each of the 12 groups, plus the eight best third-placed teams, qualify for the round of 16.
