Where can I get traditional wooden doors made in Slovenia?

1. The word you are looking for is “mizarstvo”. Try searching for that rather than looking for specialized door manufacturers. Any half decent carpenter should be able to make a solid hard-wood door. They’re probably going to be a sole-proprietor and not have a secretaries or a webpage so you’re going to have to make some phone calls.

   Another good search term would be “masivna lesena vrata”.

2. Lestur from Komenda, they are really the best in my opinion. They mostly do doors for the inside but they are quite flexible.

3. Mizarstvo aka woodworking will most likely not help you in this case. The techniques that were used in producing these old doors are barely used anymore, the style and design of building aswell. You also will not get the beautiful patina that you get from a genuine old doors.

   We were building house in the old school slovenian heritage style and we were looking to get these kind of doors (and a portal) for our house. We found most of them and also purchased them from an old farm in the country. My mother and father literally drove around old villages during the weekends and tried to find “vintage” pieces like that on old farms and their barns. You would be surprised how much awesome stuff they found
