UK: Police arrest two suspects in mass train stabbing that leaves 10 wounded • FRANCE 24 English

For the very latest, we can cross now to London and speak to France 24’s Erve Amarik. Erve, what more do we know at this point? About an hour into the train journey, police were called with reports of a a knife attack and there were apparently scenes of panic on board the train with people uh covered in blood running through carriages, some locking themselves in the toilet for safety. A witness described a man covered in blood who were trying to warn others that he had been stabbed uh before collapsing. Um now initially because this is Halloween weekend, people thought it was a prank. But this nightmare was very much real. Very quickly the train made an emergency stop where uh police boarded the train. armed police had been called. The code word Plato for marauding terrorist attack had been initiated and the police immediately fired a non-lethal gun, a taser gun onto a passenger or a man sorry carrying a a large gun, a large knife and two people were arrested as you mentioned. Uh 10 people are in hospital, nine of them are in a life-threatening uh situation. Now, police has not yet confirmed this is a terrorist attack, but this is very much reminiscent of what happened 15 years ago on a train between Amsterdam and Paris where passengers were attacked by terrorists. Yeah, it certainly brings up memories of that thwarted attack on the talis. What sort of reaction has there been in the UK? Well, a local member of parliament, you know, praised the quick and effective uh police reaction to it. They were on board the train really quickly and seem to have controlled the situation also very quickly. There were a very large emergency service response with uh air ambulances and paramedics on on the train immediately after the police. Um the prime minister K star said it was absolutely appalling and deeply concerning just a few weeks after an attack a terrorist attack at the synagogue in Manchester on Yum Kipur day. Uh the leader of the opposition uh conservative Ky Benock also said this was a a horrific attack and that she was deeply disturbed like most of the country is waking up to this horrific attack in the UK. UK police said ten people were taken to hospital – nine with life-threatening injuries – following a multiple stabbing on a London-bound train in the eastern town of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.   13. Unless you start to address the problem in a correct way – it won't stop. The problem IS NOT "radicalization". The problem is a militant religion that has a goal to seize power wherever it can (better if the whole world) to establish a TOTALITARIAN rule – all according to its texts. Or in one word – this if a form of totalitarian movement. It's somewhat remotely similar to Totalitarian Communist Bolsheviks in 1946 – and it required very precise understanding and tremendous coordination and resource to contain it by Truman/Churchill. This is no different. PS. Truman also didn't understand what he was facing right away, and it took precious time.
