I thought there was a RCB 4% annual increase limit, is that just being ignored?
>Average ~~cost of rent~~ income of landlords across the country up by over 11% on early 2021
One mans rent is another man’s income after all
Depressing reading r/Ireland this morning. Clear as day, the housing crisis is the primary issue for the next election, they’ve turned this country into a hellscape. Get rid of this lot.
People seem happy to pay this rent otherwise they’d be out protesting
Good video on how solving housing will help confront nearly every issue within our societies.
This was a crisis 5 years ago, we’ve run out of superlatives to describe it now.
Its important to remember: Your parents probably dont know just how bad it is. I mean yeah they’ve heard the stories, but until you’ve queued with 30 other people to just view an apartment, you dont really know.
Fingers crossed that Russia accidently nukes us instead if the UK. We really need to reset and start again from scratch.
2 years ago or just under (just before covid) we looked at a house/apartment place for 950 2 bedroom was decent enough but just had a few things we didn’t like space wise.. we seen it again a few months ago for 1300. Like?
Had an MRBI phone survey the other day. Two of the questions were about property and rent value in my area. Had they gone up or down, and by how much? The highest band for an increase was “5% or more” (the lesser ones being 1 or 2% I think). I literally laughed out loud.
We are trying to get enough members to organize a rent strike if you want to join – r/RentStrikeIreland
I’ve been mass downvoted here for saying RPZ’s aren’t working…

Jesus fucking christ the wild west!
Average increase of 20.76%
– Leitrim 24.8%
– Roscommon 21.6%
– Sligo 19.7%
– Mayo 19.6%
– Galway 18.1%
Include Donegal at 22.7% and that average jumps to 21.08%
Assar Lindbeck, a Swedish economist declared that rent control is “the best way to destroy a city, other than bombing.”
And still no mass protest to take to the streets
When the next economic crisis and financial bailouts come around, they’re still going to tell us “we all partied”.

It’s an absolute disgrace.
