  1. At some point, the government will have to give the general public greater rights to defend themselves.

You can’t just ban such a fundamental tool as a knife, and knife crime will continue to rise because so far, your only legal right when faced with such an assault is to be stabbed.

  2. England really is a mess right now.
    Literally nowhere is safe.

  3. I like how the slop media refers to it as a major incident in the headline, but in the article quote the police as stating “this is not a major incident”. What a load of crap.

  4. I saw Reading and got concerned. Then I realized it can’t be my city cause there’s no shooting. Then I breathed a sigh of relief.

  5. update,

“The police added: “Contrary to media reports, this incident has not been categorised as a major incident by the force.”

“There are a number of claims on X, formerly Twitter, and Facebook that ‘mutliple people were injured.

According to the information from the police, one person was stabbed.”

“Students and teachers were asked to remain where they were while police tried to find the suspect. The Chronicle was contacted by a number of concerned parents and grandparents about this.

However once the suspect was arrested, the lockdown was lifted and they were given the all-clear.”

  6. Like, 90% of the people commenting didn’t actually read the article did they?

  7. It’s not the knives that are the problem, it’s the mentality that we need to fix.

I’ve had a knife keep my fork company for all my life and haven’t stabbed anyone.

  8. One kid got attacked, he survived. Not a major incident.

  9. Just our weekly stabbing news report, nothing to see here.

  10. This is my college and I was there today when it happened it was wild. Supposedly the guy got stabbed 3 times (I heard through people when walking out so not sure if true) we all had to go into lockdown and locked the doors etc.

Then all had to go home at 3pm or so and there was armed police, helicopters and a tonne of police cars and ambulances

  11. Don’t worry Labour said knife crime is down and i believe them

  12. This is terrible, but I’m not sure how unexpected this is unfortunately. I remember back when I was in school, I heard my friends who went to college tell a story about the first day where they basically did stop and searches with metal detectors, and a bunch of kids basically had to 180 and walk back out. Worryingly it sounds like they just skipped that one day of searches, so who knows what kind of things came back in unfound on day two

My point isn’t that this should be accepted or anything, just that we seem to have turned a blind eye to the realities of life in some of these areas. It’s almost like we just assumed everyone is living the ideal life and therefore safety measures like security and whatnot aren’t necessary. That or we’ve just cut budgets incessantly and therefore convinced ourselves it’s because security features aren’t needed anymore

Article doesn’t suggest it’s anyone in particular, but this could easily be student on student

Colleges compared to sixth forms seem to just have a different culture in my opinion, probably due to who chooses to go where and why. Most people I know that went to college ended up carrying knives at some point during that time and also dealing drugs. Most of them have some kind of criminal record now or cases pending. Don’t think it’s about the college, but the fact they almost entirely moved that direction and all chose college probably tells you something about a chunk of people attending college instead of sixth form or interning
