WANA (Nov 07) – The “Iranian Carpet Art Day” was held at the conference hall of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Berlin, attended by several resident ambassadors, diplomats, and enthusiasts of Iranian culture and traditional arts.

 

During the ceremony, Majid Neili, Iran’s Ambassador to Germany, described the Iranian carpet as a symbol of artistry, patience, and creativity, emphasizing its important role in showcasing Iran’s rich cultural heritage to the world.

 

The ambassador highlighted the historic role of Iranian carpets in fostering relations between Iran and Germany, noting that the establishment of a Joint Iranian-German Carpet House provides an opportunity to enhance and facilitate collaboration in this field.

 

Zahra Kamani, Head of the Iranian National Carpet Center, addressed the gathering via a video message, discussing the historical, artistic, and economic significance of Iranian handwoven carpets and the long-standing presence of Iranian carpet artisans in Germany. She praised the efforts of Iranian artists and weavers to preserve tradition while introducing innovation to this ancient art.

 

The event featured an exhibition of rare and valuable carpets from different regions of Iran, showcasing the country’s cultural and artistic diversity and receiving widespread appreciation from attendees.

 

Additional highlights included a workshop on Iranian carpet design conducted by two renowned masters and the screening of a short clip highlighting the beauty of Iranian carpets.

 

In a symbolic gesture, some guests participated in tying a “friendship knot” on the loom, representing cultural ties and friendship between nations.

 

Iranian carpets, long recognized as one of the most iconic symbols of Iran’s art and culture, reflect the creativity, patience, and skill of Iranian artisans. Germany has historically been a major hub for Iranian carpet trade in Europe, underscoring the deep and enduring connections between the two countries in this field.
