  5. Odds are if Germany did invade they would still be overwhelmed by the Russians and they’d eventually, take over all of Europe as the Yanks would not have the UK base of operations. We all saw what the USSR was like. That is no way better than what we have.

  6. I have great respect for the veterans of the Second World War. But I also know that people his age are really fucking grumpy.

    My dad his is age, nice man, but he thinks the world is the worst it’s ever been when his dinner is 15 minutes late.

    Not once the old gentleman mentioned anything about immigration but more more about “freedom”, **yet the hosts kept making it about immigration.** Is mass immigration which is not skilled an issue? YES. But stopping putting words in his mouth.

    I doubt the old vet would love the Nazi ideology he fought against to be installed in UK in next few years.

  10. Really respect his service and honesty, but a man of his age doesn’t live in the real world at this point.

    When so much has passed him by, culturally and technologically I really don’t think he could give a genuine and unbiased view of the state of Britain.

    Obviously there are issues, but let’s not pretend that that’s not always been the case.

  18. It would be more useful a conversation if he explained what exactly he had in mind that made modern UK so terrible. I’m in principle interested in generational view of changes across a lifetime, but there’s also a fair chance it would just turn out to be the usual bigotry you might guess.

  22. They weren’t fighting for the “British values” of replacement migration and battery farming third worlders. Austerity was far less damaging than mass immigration.

  23. Maybe he was actually referring to the rise of far right nationalism? He refers to a lack of freedom, maybe he means the freedom of people to escape tyranny and seek a better life for themselves?

Is it better now 1000’s of these guests in our country have caused untold damage to young girls and women that have been sexually assaulted?. The People that have been attacked in the streets or music events by these people?.. No.
    It’s all fun and games guessing what the world would look like if the UK let Germans run rampant across Europe, Russia would have ended up winning the war just by sheer numbers and expanding the USSR across mainland Europe and then that would’ve been a socialist Utopian dream. So maybe liberals should agree with this gentlemen as that’s what they all want for the UK..

  37. The war was won by the red army though, the result would likely be the same regardless of what actions the UK took
