I would love to see the long term impact on the economy of the collapse of the airline industry, both for passengers and freight. It would lead to permanent recession.
This shutdown is such a hallmark of a failed government but no one in Washington can see the forest for the trees. This shutdown is more than a dysfunction legislative branch. It represents the demise of representative democracy. Now our votes don’t count because our representatives aren’t voting due to legislature rules of the house that allow a deadlock and refusal to swear in new duly elected legislators, much less vote. Whether it is the actions of the Speaker of the House or the Filibuster rule, or other actions, the cumulative result has nullified the primary purpose of the legislative branch of government.
The executive and judicial branches of our government are keeping most of our country functioning temporarily, but can function long term only by converting to autocracy. Just my take. American government as we know it is already gone.
Edit 10 minutes after posting: Democrats have submitted an offer to resolve the shutdown. This story is not ending yet.
Yea, I wouldn’t be flying in an airplane in American airspace any time soon….

Doesn’t it take years of school to be an air traffic controller? Seems like a difficult job to replace.
No pay… no play. I support this.
It could take many months to replace them and your flight may never come to pass. The conservative aholes need to think about that for a minute or two.
They all really need to organize and walk tf off the job. Ofc there is a threat of jail time, but at this point, who cares? It’s not like they can replace ATC’s with random ICE agents.
