  1. funny how they’ve not ‘accidently’ released anybody in for not paying council tax, protestors, or financial fraud against the banks.

  3. Every prison governor should be fired for starters.

    Got to think before IT systems, old fashioned paper work, mistakes would have been less common.

  5. Does anyone here actually think the government are accidentally releasing prisoners? Or that they are somehow targeting sex offenders for early release?

  7. I read that they aren’t even digitised. It’s all paper based still. That’s part of the problem.

  9. Did this just happen? Jesus…it isn’t his fault or Labour’s really, probably due to Tory cuts in the last couple of years…but this is looks so bad….cab they go any lower in the polls?

  10. This has been a recurring problem for decades. It’s not new. It’s only getting focus here related to this sub’s obsession with brown people committing crimes, and the conservative establishment media’s approach to a Labour Party government. There’s no serious analysis of an administrative problem that’s plagued the prison system for a long time. Fund it efficiently to have better practices/staff and indeed reform (not UK, sorry most of you) outcomes for prisoners of appropriate categories.

  11. When is David Lammy going to be sacked? He is the one always going on about how people should be held accountable, this has happened under his watch and Labour’s for a year, how long before they take responsibility instead of blaming the previous government.

  17. The guy has been in post for 2 months.. I’m afraid it’s going to take a lot longer than a year to fix the problems the Tory’s created by massively underfunding every public service for 14 years.
