The Foundation for the Promotion of Entrepreneurial Initiatives (FPEI) and the EIT Community Hub Malta have signed a memorandum of understanding, marking a milestone for innovation and entrepreneurship in Malta.
The agreement establishes a cooperative relationship focused on sharing knowledge, best practices and identifying joint opportunities for future collaboration that will benefit the missions of both organisations, as well as the wider entrepreneurial community.
Dedicated to promoting and supporting entrepreneurship in Malta, FPEI creates opportunities for start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and freelancers to learn, connect, grow and embrace the entrepreneurial spirit.
On the other hand, EIT Community Hub Malta represents the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the EU, in Malta, advocating for participation in the EIT’s Europe-wide network and supporting innovation across a range of sectors, from digital and health to food and creative industries.
The partnership comes at an important moment for Malta’s entrepreneur-friendly start-up ecosystem – a key pillar of achieving the national Vision 2050. Through their MoU, the two organisations aim to collaborate on community building, ecosystem development and rollout of opportunities that support Malta’s growing network of innovators, entrepreneurs and SMEs.
An exciting step towards uniting communities and unlocking new opportunities
“This MoU marks an exciting step towards uniting communities and unlocking new opportunities for collaboration between Malta and the wider European innovation landscape,” Diana Miceli, community officer at EIT Community Hub Malta, said.
“Together with FPEI, we aim to foster knowledge exchange, empower changemakers and strengthen Malta’s role as an active player in Europe’s innovation ecosystem.”
While this is the first formal collaboration between the two organisations, both share a commitment to nurturing Malta’s entrepreneurial potential and ensuring that innovation continues to be a cornerstone of the nation’s economic growth. The signing of the MoU paves the way for future initiatives, with both entities keen to develop programmes and joint activities that will enhance Malta’s capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship.
“This collaboration represents a natural alignment between two organisations that share a vision for a stronger, more connected entrepreneurial landscape in Malta,” FPEI Foundation manager, Giselle Borg Olivier added.
“At FPEI, we believe entrepreneurship drives innovation and grows the economy. By working together, we can amplify our impact, open up new opportunities for learning and engagement and support the continued development of the island’s innovation ecosystem.”
