  1. 89% of [Jamaica’s electricity generation](https://www.iea.org/countries/jamaica/electricity) is from imported fossil fuels. For a small island nation about to go through a rebuild phase it would seem like a great opportunity to do so trying to include as much domestic solar as possible at the same time and also looking at ways to implement more grid scale renewable generation and storage into the mix.

  2. Yeah as someone who lives on a different island in the Caribbean did this a few years ago. Cuz last hurricane we didn’t have power for 100 days.
