    Reminds me of how badly Point Roberts, Washington’s economy was devastated by the US/Canada border closing. Obviously cutting off Russia is the right call but you gotta feel for the local businesses :/

    The government should compensate border communities for the reduced economic activity.

  2. It’s already been that way for two years due to covid, it’s not something that came suddenly.

    We should support the residents there but they have to rely on some other business model.

  3. I find it very hard to imagine that we would be opening up the relationship with Russia in decades. For anyone on the border to trust Russia would require w complete change in governance and leaders

  4. Most of my family are evacuees from Karjala, my grandmother was orphaned by Russia. I will never trust Russia, never have. And I hope our goverment won’t either.
