Cairn Homes to earn €100m profits this year

  1. 100m in profits mean they have cash in hand now and can afford to push forward and make more housing, one of the biggest issues (for lack of a better word) at the moment for companies like this is the ability to buy more land and spend cash on building/designing/paperwork for new developments. 100m gives them at least something in the back pocket to keep doing more.

  2. Whilst it’s a headline grabbing figure – at least it shows they are still in a good financial position to be able to continue building homes. I would rather this than them showing a very minor profit or break even.

  3. Yet the government are discussing contributing up to 70% of the cost for builders to build homes? Why do they need that if they are making €100m a year?

  4. Expect the usual candidates to be foaming at the mouth here. If you want people to build houses they are going to want to make a profit. No one is going to it for free.

If you want the government to do it we’ll all pay for it in extra taxation. Honestly this sub seems to live in some alternative reality fairy land where 50000 houses a year get built for nothing and then gifted to all and sundry.

  5. How many homes did they build its really relevant as if they are turning a massive profit per home then its concerning.

But if they built lots of home which I think they did a profit like this seems like well good for them
