Police have launched an appeal for the public's help after two teenaged girls were "seriously sexually assaulted" at a park in Heanor, Derbyshire.

The incident took place on the Lockton Avenue recreation ground on Halloween night between 9pm and 11pm, Derbyshire Police has said. Both the girls are receiving support from specialist officers and partner agencies.

The suspect was described by the girls as being white, around 40 years old, 5ft 8ins tall, skinny and a short light ginger beard. He was wearing a green baseball style cap and a green coat.

  1. It’s so helpful when they give a description. Hope they get this scum soon….

  2. Willing to bet you won’t see many comments in this thread… Can’t qwhite work out why.

  3. Atrocious thing to happen in a place that should be safe for children. The release of details of the suspect is good and should happen more often. Catch him and throw away the key.

Something I’ve noticed recently is a severe lack of police presence across the UK as a whole. I want to see more active patrols to stop this. I don’t want articles like this every single day.

  4. Wow, look at that. The police released a description

  5. The girls did well with that description. Hope they catch him quickly, he sounds dangerous/brazen so could be quick to offend again.

  6. Apposed to a “non-serious” sexual assault..?

  7. Nice that the police released his description which…immediately reduced space for wild conjecture.
