Is it not possible for these people to run independently of the Conservative party if they truly do not support the actions of their party in parliament and government?

Were I given to platitudes, the phrase “you reap what you sew” might come to mind.
Well if you’re a conservative politician of course you may well have not been at Downing Street parties. But simply by definition of being conservative, you are either sociopathic or dumb, or both.
If you’re a politician who has intelligence and empathy, the Tories are not for you.
Conservatives ‘values’ are all about helping selfish men.
These are people who had a choice of who to be Tory leader, and voted for Boris Johnson. It was not as with Theresa May or Michael Howard where the membership did not get a vote in the end.
One of the Tory candidates my way sent a very grumpy letter around last night accusing the independent groups in the area of various conspiracies.
Funny as he (and a few of the other candidates) have previously stood as independents and then switched to conservatives afterwards.
Then stand as an independent. If you’re not part of the problem, start being part of the solution. If you don’t want to be part of the solution? Then you can get fucked.

Hartlepool’s “local Conservative” candidate James Brewer has [one of these leaflets](https://nitter.net/MHtwafa/status/1521593301379555329), apologetically distancing “local Conservatives” from Westminster ones.

So just as Hartlepool’s local Conservatives are not mistake-making Westminster Conservatives, clearly Hartlepool Labour councillors will enact UK’s re-entry to the EU by themselves, in opposition to the [clearly stated policy](https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/labour-leader-keir-starmer-rules-out-uk-rejoining-european-union-b982474.html) of the Westminster Labourites.
