Each week during the 2025 season, we’re going through the Eagles media guide to find an interesting nugget.

The Eagles’ PR staff does a great job filling out these little oddities in the media guide and they serve as a good way to meet the players behind the helmets.

This week we chatted with defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who said he wanted to be an astronaut when he was younger because he was always fascinated with space.

Me: What about space interested you?

Davis: I would say just the possibility of the unknown. We don’t really know too much about space. Well, we know a lot but it’s still out there to be explored. The ocean as well. I had a class, marine biology, and going into class, I knew nothing about marine biology, but I was so invested in finding out different things about the ocean, things about space, that it just keeps me motivated. I just like to learn. I just like learning about new things.

Me: There’s always a debate: Should we spend more time exploring space or should we stick to the oceans for now and figure out those?

Davis: I would say the oceans but that might be a tall task.

Me: In space, is it stars that intrigue you? Planets?

Davis: My thing is probably about everything. My biggest thing, the thing that amazes me the most, is just how everything is balanced in a way that it could create life on Earth. If it was any closer to the sun or any farther away from the sun, it would be either too hot or too cold. It’s just perfect. How the Big Bang created cosmic gasses and all that stuff and it just collects and makes planets.

Me: Yeah, that’s cool.

Davis: And all types of stuff like that. It’s just crazy how everything is connected into a way where you’re just able to survive. If we weren’t able to survive, we wouldn’t know about space.

Me: Yeah, that is really cool. Have you ever spent much time stargazing when you get a really clear night?

Davis: All the time. Staying away from Philly, the light pollution is really low. So I get a chance to look up and see a bunch of stars. I think that’s the biggest thing for me. That’s one thing that I look for when looking for a place to stay, the light pollution. If I can see a lot of stars, it’s a good place to be.

Me: What’s the darkest sky you’ve ever seen?

Davis: I was making a drive from Phoenix to Vegas. And in the middle of it, the middle of the night, I just stopped. Pulled over on the side of the road and opened up the sun roof. Just the amount of stars you could see …

Me: See some shooting stars too?

Davis: Dude, it was insane, bro. Insane. I couldn’t believe it. Every time I go out there, I spend time and just sit out there. I love that.

Me: Thanks, man. I appreciate it.

Davis: Yeah, I like that. That’s a fun one.
