If you think about the fact i ve spend 3 & half hours in traffic to get from home to work & back while i m living at 36 km from my workplace.. yea , sounds about right..
Edit: by car , public transport would take less time but i ld spend 40 min waiting on a train & i ld still need my frigging car to drive in to opposit direction of my workplace to the nearest trainstation.
Seems doubtful to me. As much as we complain, Belgium isn’t all that bad and I believe our work-life balance in general should be quite good compared to our neighbours
Yes lol
Belgium ranks 7th compared to The Netherlands at the 8th place. For some reason they didn’t list Belgium in this list?
Edit: Hmm maybe it’s a different year. The list posted by erwtje-be shows different rankings also for Germany and other countries.
Edit2: It is the correct year, the list above is the ranking based on all measurements. In terms of leisure time, Belgium is higher than The Netherlands, but lower than Germany.
Traffic is horrible and working overtime is often expected and not compensated. So yeah, it checks out
Well, as a carolo I can confirm that we have a terrible work-life balance. It’s 0% work and 100% life.
As an Italian myself having worked in Italy, having friends and family working in Italy I can’t help but think those number are completely made up or based on false data…
My work life balance has improved SO MUCH since I moved here, and friends from Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece all tell me the same that here it’s just so much better
I really have no idea where this ranking comes from or how it’s made, by I know for me it’s for sure wrong
Edit: now that I look at it and I notice it’s based on 2020 I find it even more irrelevant, 2020 was one of the most abnormal years from a work life point of view in the last 50 years 😅
So many ppl lost their job, were unemployed, could not work, were working from home for a certain amount of time… idk it’s just a year I’d not use for this kind of statistics, same for 2021. More meaningful data could come from 2019 when life was “normal”
I’m an exception at work so I doubt I can represent the masses but I work a rediculous amount of unpaid overtime.
from personal experience, yes
As a Belgian living in Spain I feel this is not true. More so I would say that there is way more stress in general to get fired than in Belgium and people work way more here to prevent it.
Hard to believe we’re worst off than France considering how much complaining they do
idk whether that’s true for everyone or not but what baffled me when I came here was that you’re obliged to take a break in the middle of the day… so even if technically you’re supposed to work 8h days, in fact you work 8.5h days. it’s bonkers to me. I’d be so much happier going home half an hour earlier… to me this is just a waste of time I could spend elsewhere. I’m not sure if this is industry specific or what, but just. why?
Oh yeah maybe I didn’t get lucky with employers but yes
Well not ALL of our neighbours there’s still luxembourg, wait nope it is indeed out of all of them
Arm arm Vlaanderen.
Sorry but what for title/post is this? If you read maps you can see we are not included in the data presented. Thus it doesnt apply for us. If you look at the website we rank higher than the dutch for example.
You guys are having a life?
I work for the government. My work life balance is amazing
Spanish living in Belgium. No way Spain with its crazy comercial and office times have better work balance than Belgium.
I’m an outlier but other employers can take notes. I work 7 hour days with a relatively high wage at a factory. Okay I’m a technician so of course I earn more than the regular operator, but their wage is still high compared to other factories while also working 7 hours. It’s not like this factory is an outlier in earning., But goddamn people are willing to work a lot harder if it’s only for 7 hours and a fair wage and they’re actually well rested at work.
Judging by my own work/life balance experience it’s terrible. I’m only staying because the money is good. When money won’t be as important anymore and I can make choice I’ll try to find a more balanced job in terms of work/life.
Fuck work
Maybe we are more pessimistic? Or maybe its due to qomething else. Eg. I work hard, but to me work life balance just means that when I leave the office, nobody contacts me anymore. For some people it has a completely different meaning.
I think this chart is bullshit, or only covers certain employment sectors that arnt mentioned, because working in the Netherlands sucked so much for me
I worked in France, Germany and Belgium.
Germany has the best work-life balance, like at 17:00 *Feierabend* people will drop the pencil and go home. France is the worst like if you leave at 18:00 *T’as pris ton après-midi ?* Belgium is somewhere in between like nobody will blame you for leaving at 18:00 but leaving at 17:00 still sounds like you’re lazy
Yes,as a student i waste my time in school from 8:10 till 17h00,its very depressing
We have a perfect wok- life balance thank you very much. People in the north work people in the south leisure.
