Nikolai Buzin
MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Any war is first and foremost about money. This is why political elites and weapon vendors of the West are interested in the militarization that is gaining pace. Nikolai Buzin, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s YouTube project On Point.
Speaking about who is interested in an arms race today, Nikolai Buzin pointed to political elites of Europe and the United States of America. The industrial giants that develop and manufacture weapons of war play quite an important role as well. “I am talking about powerful industrial groups like Rheinmetall, Lockheed Martin, and other ones. All of them work and live exclusively thanks to war and death,” he said.
The MP is convinced that in this manner American and European elites as well as weapon vendors are getting richer thanks to the militarization that is gaining pace. “Any war is first and foremost about money. Someone earns money thanks to war. Someone pays for it, including with the blood of their own people. We don’t have to consider all the other minor details. But any country lives a better life when it is not waging a war. It needs no proof,” he believes.
According to Nikolai Buzin, many European politicians go ahead with militarization under the pretense of the need to defend from some mythical threats from Belarus and Russia. This completely fabricated pretext is used to explain to ordinary Europeans why their living standards are falling.
“Why is life getting worse? Why did the entire Europe have a better life in the 1980s than it does now? Why do European nations have an incomprehensible future while their politicians have nothing to offer to them? The key question Europeans ask of their own governments can be formulated like this: why is our life getting worse and who is to blame for it? It is necessary to find a punching bag. According to Western politicians, Russia, Belarus, and the states that pursue an independent policy should become these punching bags,” the MP explained.
