  1. Sorry for the slight editorialisation of the headline. Just thought it made more sense to change it to the town name, rather than the locality.

  2. This was legitimately only a matter of time and plenty of builders and tradesmen along with the people who work for the likes of screwfix, chadwicks, Brooks, etc have been saying it for a few months now.

    Builders are going to stop building because of the price of materials. They can’t keep raising the prices of houses to the point nobody will be able to buy them, and material quality is not getting any better.

    Most of the people that have made those comments also agree that while we’re also in a labour shortage, it’s probably going to get worse if the materials market doesn’t get righted in some way.

    Edit: And because we’re not the only country with a housing crisis someone will always buy the materials even at such huge costs.

  3. I renovated an old house last year, by time I got a builder, costs had risen by 25%, by time work was finished I had spent over 35% more than I’d budgeted for. It’s becoming so difficult to build or renovate at these prices
