People living in a country’s capital tend to be more intelligent, beautiful and successful.
This naturally leads to envy and resentment in the rest of the country, who will make up the most insane reasons to hate capitals in order to avoid coming to terms with their own inferiority.
Everywhere outside County Dublin, the county that holds the capital (except for Waterford, Donegal and Louth) just likes to vote in the same two corrupt parties that fuck up the country just to spite us and then blames everything on us.

It’s not about the capital to be fair. I am fine with Vienna, it’s a beautiful city.

Capitals tend to be giant leeches that concentrate all the money and decision power at the expense of everyone else in the country.
Paris is like that and London as well anyway.

There are countries in which the capitals hold all the political, economical and cultural power by far. Think London and Paris.
And there are countries in which the power is divided. Like Berlin has the political power, Frankfurt has the ECB, and the cultural power is spread.
Or Madrid with the political power and Barcelona a strong rival. Italy with Rome (politics) and Milano (money).
In the US, money is NYC, politics is Washington and cultural power is kinda LA and NYC. Brazil as well: money in Sao Paulo, culture in Rio, political power in Brasilia.
Anyway, all that just to say I think people tend to hate more their capitals (and people from there) when they’re the centre of everyhting, like London, Paris, Tokyo, Buenos Aires (every Argentinian I’ve met hates people from Buenos Aires), etc
Madrid is the driving force of Spain, the rest of the country just hates us because we have the best water and still keep all 32 of our teeth.
