So my neighbours have this light which more often than not is on and it stays on for long, so not just 5 min. I have yet to notice a moment where it turned off again. Doesn‘t this count as light pollution and is this even legal?

Have you talked to them and informed them about the effect it has on you?
I have a company on the other side of the street, where some moron regularily forgets to turn off the light. I’ve just glued a piece of cartoon on my window, blocking that part of light that was landing on my head through the holes in the window blinds. Problem solved in ugly but effective way.
Put a big mirror in your window and align it so that the light hits him back 🙂
Print off these 2 photos with a note that explains it affects your home, they could easily install something to shield the top of the light so it doesn’t shine upwards as much and hopefully they’ll respond to a gentle note.
It brightened your day at least :/
Just be nice and ask your neighbour to turn off his military level floodlights
“Blendschutz” is the thing you are looking for or Bewegungsmelder which they could install
I have something similar 5 meters away from my bedroom, and it stays on the whole night. I tried reaching out to people but as usual the only solution is the one you implement yourself. In my case I had to put opaque curtains and in summer get used to sleep with light if I want the breeze coming through the window.
In your case you can place a very powerful and directional reflector pointing to them. In my case it is a public luminary so unfortunately it ‘belongs to no one’ so I literally cannot do anything.
What the hell is that even for 😭
I’m swiss but damn this is so swiss…
Get an even brighter one. First one to cave loses.

Are you sure your neighbour isn’t trying to guide ships around? Because that’s a freaking lighthouse you have there.
Use a Rock
Hey OP, if you gonna go ask them to switch off the light, would you ask them for what initial reason they have it? It seems so useless. Just curious…
Where are you based? There are city offices responsible for these situations. You can contact them and will send someone to check.

What are they trying to do with that light? Keeping vampires 400 km away? Replacing the sun? Or is it just the picture?

Count yourself lucky, my neighbor leaves their super-bright kitchen light on ALL NIGHT LONG.
Neighbor just really wants to live in a lighthouse
Unacceptable…not civilised.
Haha wtf is that they have no lights at you they laser you down
I would call in a M.O.A.B emp strike on his location and triangulate his hellish path to the underworld right away.
Switzerland is so boring that people end up reporting each other’s neighbours on reddit
