West Indies will not be able to overcome New Zealand in their five-match series after the fourth T20I was called off due to rain.

After losing by nine runs on Sunday, West Indies needed a victory in Nelson on Monday to level the scores heading into the final match in Dunedin.

Instead, only 6.3 overs were played, with the Windies reaching 38-1, before play was suspended due to persistent rain.

Alick Athanaze was dismissed on 21 by James Neesham (1-5), with Amir Jangoo (12 not out) and Shai Hope (three not out) at the crease when the weather closed in.

We’ve still got a chance to level the series. Our main focus is that. I was looking forward to this one,” said Hope.

The final T20I takes place on Thursday, before a three-match ODI series precedes a three-match Test series.
