I once commented on this group that having spent over 30yrs living in various parts of the world it was always disappointing to find that Wales, the Welsh, had a very tiny footprint when compared to the Irish or Scots. Our brand if you like, was virtually unknown. I received quite a few negative comments. The claim by the owner of this Welsh pub ironically supports my claim, ‘The only Welsh pub in the southern hemisphere’, I bet there’s thousands of Irish pubs though!
Mae’n dal yn agor? Falch o glywed!
Surely not the only one in the southern hemisphere?!
I love this !
I’ve been there, it’s awesome. Used to be a toilet lol
This looks like a building somewhere in vvardenfell
Pint of Allbright, please, Dai
I went in here when I was in Wellington in February! Great lil pub
I saw a $100 dollar bill from Brunei (where I grew up) pinned to the wall near the bar in The Black Boy Inn in Caernarfon. I’m assuming a guest left it – there were currencies from all over the world pinned there. But I wasn’t expecting Brunei!
I was there after the Grand Slam in 2008, staying in the hostel over the road. They were closed due to staff hangovers
Went there when wrexham played wellington. it’s the only place in nz that I’ve found that sells wrexham larger and is just as mediocre. Still tastes like home.
was standing outside there the other night having a cig and this old British man walks past and says ‘trust the welsh to make a pub in an old piss house’
This building, what’s the history?
I’ve been there , 20 years ago when i was in nz 20 years ago
Had the most phenomenal pregame and post game there @ RWC 2011 1/4 final when Wales beat Ireland 🏴
Awsom , nice work . I came Accross the prince of wales pub in Lanzarote a few years back.
We’re not at the far end of the world, we’re right here, the only people who consider it the far end of the world are people who had to travel a long way to get here, like the first colonists and tourists.
Whereas I just rolled out of bed and here I am.
They used to be toilets 😁
They do a sweet shanty night too
Does it serve brains?
You are never more part of your culture when you are parted from it.
Waheyy! Didn’t expect to see my local on Reddit today! Absolute class pub and hospitality. Brains on tap and Glamorgan sausages on the menu! Long live the Welsh 🏴🇳🇿
I went into this bar one evening after work, still concussed from a bicycle accident the day before.
I drank whiskey. The guy playing the guitar was like a deity on a dias. The light was warm and orange.
The police found my trying to scale a church fence up around Mt Victoria. No idea what happened. They wouldn’t give me a ride home.
