Russia says its forces advance in ruins of Pokrovsk, Ukraine says defenders hold on • FRANCE 24

Russian media refers to it as the gateway to Detsk and the Russian military now claims to have captured it. The city of Picovsk in the east has become a focal point in Russia’s campaign with these images purporting to show attacks on a neighboring town. If confirmed, the capture would be the most important Russian territorial game of the year. Russia said on Monday that its troops had advanced in the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk, a transport and logistics hub that they have been trying to capture for over a year, but Ukraine said its forces were holding on.
