What has the EU ever done for me?

  1. This might be effective from a political sell-voters standpoint — I mean, the Red Bus of Brexit worked — but from an economic standpoint, I’m not really impressed by a quick skim.

    I clicked on “Bavaria”.

Most or all of the items here are spending on projects.

In a world where the EU didn’t exist, the German government and Bavarians would still be spending on projects in Bavaria.

Routing the funds through the EU doesn’t really make it something that the EU does for Bavaria.

A better argument from an economic standpoint would be something like a list of estimated efficiency gains by not having to deal with border overhead in trading with Austria, say.

  2. I do think that the EU is necessary for the future of Europeans, but examples of things the EU funds are a bad way of making the argument, if the combined total of that funding is smaller than the membership fees.
