  1. This is the reading of the death penalty bill where Ben-Gvit was laughing and handing out baklava right?

I was surprised to read that they don’t already have a proper death penalty, although I suppose officially sentencing someone to death is needless when you can just murder them with impunity.

It’s always a bit bemusing to see the attempts to layer a veneer of law and order over what Israel is/does. I’m not sure who they think they’re convincing with the theatrics.

  2. One of the Israeli news stations did a 20 minute expose on the infamous terrorist prisoners being released in exchange for the angelic innocent dancer babies that were being held by Hamas.

There’s an interesting bit where the interviewer walks down the line and asks them what they are convinced of and all of them are convicted for murdering border police, shin bet officers and IDF soldiers.

The fact that the rest of the world places any credence in Israel’s justice system at all is a mark of shame.

  3. Enforcing the death pentalty in Israel is extremely hard but many right-wing parties (including Likud) have wanting to make it way easier for decades. There’s only two people who have been sentenced to death penalty in Israel’s history, the first one was an IDF officer named Meir Tobianski who was accused of helping Arab armies against Israel in 1948 war and Adolf Eichman, who was a high-ranking Nazi SS officer and was one of main organizers of the Holocaust, he was captured by the Mossad in Argentina (1960)
