Bank of Italy: "Employment is increasing in Lombardy, but so is the use of unemployment benefits in manufacturing."

In the first half of 2025, employment in Lombardy increased (1,1 percent) and the number of people looking for work decreased (the average unemployment rate for the first half of the year was 3,1 percent).

However, the use of the Wage Supplementation Fund (Cassa Integrazione Guadagni) was higher than in the years before the pandemic and mainly involved certain manufacturing sectors. This is what emerges from the economic update released today by the Bank of Italy.
