Just for anyone interested: The "3000" in the Name stands for 3000kg of explosives, which roughly translates to 6614 lbs of explosive power. Those bombs are massive. In comparison a AASM Hammer, which is frequently used by Ukrainian aviation, has around 340kg/750lbs.

    No, it’s stands for gross bomb weight, explosive weight is less than half of it (1200kg, IIRC). Still a powerful bomb.

  6. Is this recent? Kind of surprised they’re hitting the city like this considering it’s already effectively surrounded. Would think they’d just finish the encirclement and starve them out and use their air assets elsewhere on the front. Just me being an armchair general though and maybe this is on the Northern side of the city where they’re trying to close the ring. Would be interested to know when and where this was.

  10. Daym, even if you wasn’t in that building I imagine those in the surrounding area would have their body and brains scrambled from the shock wave. I really hope Ukraine didn’t have many or any troops in the area, but I fear the worse.

  18. Not that impressive. Just a big boom. You could do way more damage with less with precision munitions targeting the foundations like the Israelis do when they level entire buildings in Gaza

  19. Jesus Christ…. All I can think about is multiple of these being dropped in WWII, and how that would have looked..
