  1. Oh thank god for that, I thought there was a real issue with the cost of food items.

George Eustice there with his wise and comforting words.

  2. Top tip. For anyone who hadn’t already done that ages ago.

You can also save on energy by cooking your dinner over a dumpster fire.

  3. The same brands that have seen higher increases than others?

Stuff like the cheap bleach has gone from 40p to 60p a bottle over a short period of time.

I recall seeing posts on here about this before too. By Jack Monroe iirc

  4. They were saying on the radio earlier on that George Eustice claimed about £200,000 in expenses last year (on top of the £85,000 salary for being an MP and any additional salary he might get for being a Minister).

I can understand how someone who’s blowing through a million quid every three or four years might think that it would be a novel way to save a few quid by choosing a slightly cheaper option when you’re going shopping. I don’t think he has any concept of what his constituents are saying to him when they tell him that they can’t afford to live.

  5. But what if they literally can’t….. oh, i forget, the MPs don’t give a fuck unless it’s election. My local cunt of a MP has remained silent and is fucking useless for town. His name? Damien Collins. He only pipes up when it benefits him and always looks like he hates the town in every single picture he is in.

  6. Sure, alongside the value brand gas and electricity, value brand petrol, value brand housing etc everyone will be just fine.

Even his phrasing of it is infuriating, like it’s something he’s just discovered and thinks no one is aware of.

    And then this:
    >Well, my advice would be that, you know, not to stay on a on a bus all day to try and stay warm

Holy shit thanks, great idea, just don’t be poor and cold, I’m sure she’ll get right on that.

  7. >Eustice told Sky News: “Generally speaking, what people find is by going for some of the **value** brands rather than **own-branded** products

I’d always have considered supermarket own brand to be value brand. It’s the same thing!
