About 2,000 turned out for ‘No Kings II’ protest in Lakeland’s Freedom Park against Donald Trump’s policies. An organizer explains why.

The League of Women Voters Polk County will host a panel discussion titled “Immigration in Polk County” on Nov. 13 at Beacon Hill Fellowship Auditorium, 220 W. Beacon Road, in Lakeland.

Doors open at 5: 30 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Donations for migrant families will also be collected at the event. 

Scheduled panelists include Nancy Futch, an immigrant advocate; Julianna Zavala, manager for migrant recruitment and out-of-school youth with Polk County Public Schools; and Teresita Matos-Post, executive director of Beth-El Farmworker Ministry;

Suggestions for donated items include hygiene products, clothes and both packaged and fresh foods.
