Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli witnessed on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in various healthcare fields between Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population and Latvia’s Ministry of Health.

The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Latvian Minister of Health Hosams Abu Meri, on the sidelines of the third edition of the Global Congress on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC’25), held in the New Capital from November 12 to 15 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The MoU aims to establish a framework for collaboration to enhance the quality of medical and pharmaceutical services in both countries through knowledge sharing and capacity building.

Key areas of cooperation include education and training, with a focus on specialized programs for medical professionals, as well as the exchange of medical delegations and expertise.

It also covers cooperation in digital transformation and the pharmaceutical industry, promoting knowledge exchange on health information systems and supporting the development of drug and medical equipment manufacturing through technology transfer and regulatory coordination.

Additionally, the agreement highlights collaboration in public health and research, including best practices for preventing infectious diseases such as hepatitis B and C and antimicrobial resistance, as well as joint research in organ transplantation and nanomedicine.

The two sides will also cooperate in the field of medical tourism by developing joint projects and leveraging Latvia’s expertise in wellness resort management.
