The Tories would have you believe we are all as terrible as they are. Don’t believe a word of it

  1. Let’s face it – the vast majority of people did at least bend the rules to some extent, even in minor ways, many blatantly ignored them.

The difference being they weren’t running the fucking country and making the rules in the first place, so there’s no comparison.

EDIT – despite the mass upvotes suggesting people understood my point here, there are a lot of “speak for yourself” on the rules point. Now if I’m honest, I did stick by the rules. I “bent” them by having a “driveway chat” most days with a mate who would walk his dog – not _technically_ allowed but not harming anyone. If you didn’t know or know-of people being much more flagrant with rule-breaking though, I’d suggest you have a very small social circle or don’t get out much.

This is all irrelevant to the main point I was making – a plasterer from Wigan having 10 mates around for a load of beers on a Friday night mid-lockdown might be breaking the rules, but the major difference is that _he’s not the Prime Minister and his mates are the Government of the United Kingdom_. 99% of the general public could have fastidiously stuck by every rule, 99% could have broke them in some way, either way is irrelevant. The government breaking them means they have to go.

  2. Oven ready brexit – is burnt to a crisp

covid worst response in the western world besides the yanks…and they were led by trump ffs…

one rule for you, no rules for us mentality – only admitting to what party evidence is already leaked in full to the press

boris travels to Ukraine to try to steal the glory of a proper leader just as rishi sunak borrows a poor persons car for a photo op at sainsburys

they lie about everything all the time and when they are caught out they just tell more lies

    this is not leadership.

  3. It’s not just the Tories pitching this idea that ‘they’re all the same’, most of the media are also.

  4. If you want people to not be terrible, you have to prevent terrible behaviour. I’m not sure modern Britain is ready for that sort of social revolution. We’ve been rewarding shitty behaviour since Thatcher, and doing it on the right and the left…

  5. “protect the system from those who might want to abuse it”.

His own words today in respect of appallingly slow issue of Ukrainian visas.

The true abusers are the ones currently making the rules, in any and every context.

  6. I worked in a COVID test lab during the pandemic – and we did not bend the rules. Face masks worn all day, apart from our lunch breaks (staggered due to canteen restrictions) where we had to sit socially distanced.

I live alone so I only saw people when restrictions allowed (bubble for Christmas) and didn’t hang out with my friends for almost two years in person.

I never got COVID. I thought we were trying to prevent the spread of a pandemic, but it seems like it went on for two years because people who couldn’t resist “a glass of wine” etc

  7. It’s like when companies are putting the blame and pressure on us to do more about recycling when they’ve been polluting and using the unrecyclable packaging for years!

  8. I don’t need to believe a single word from the tories, it was pretty obvious from the sheer number of pro-brexit votes and people that refused to follow government guidelines during the peak of the pandemic just how many terrible people there are in the country.

  9. He lied he lied again and again and again and he’ll carry on lieing he needs to go he needs to set an exsample like the Twit who watched porn in the Houses of Parliament he thinks it’s ok because the prime minister doesn’t abide by rules I filled the rules he should too

  10. I wonder if Trump had won how The Tories would be behaving now, they’ve all looked scared to death since Bidens victory.

  11. This is also why some people peddle outrage again Meghan Markle. If aspiring to royalty isn’t what everyone implicitly wants then the royal family has no need to exist.

  12. Doesn’t matter if you believe covid was a hoax or if you did what was asked to protect your neighbours these cunts made the rules so should set an example. Remember the buffoon tried to convince the country he almost died from covid to distract our attention away from the fact his inept government fucked it up and wasted a lot of our money buying shit PPE from the likes of Turkish version of Del Boy. We should be demanding more from our elected representatives not just allowing this shitshow.

  13. with all the shit surrounding this most people have now forgot how Boris said “let the bodies pile high” and that he’ll be going round hospitals shaking hands with everyone. the guy is so out of touch with the real world and the general public it’s unbelievable people actually support him and his gang of cronies

  14. I mean 34% have watched everything these corrupt fucks have done over the last few years, and are STILL saying they’ll vote for them.

So I guess there’s hope for the other 66% being alright.

  15. Kier Stamer was at it as well, the useless waste of oxygen tried to hang bojo before the locals and it tuns out he is a lying hypocritical piece of shit that was socialising as well ,

And morons still think Labour are the answer ?? really ?

  16. I work in a clinical admin team for the NHS.
So we’re not on the wards, looking after covid patients, not in PPE (although despite all the rules being relaxed, we are still expected to wear a mask when not sitting at our desk) and obviously not in a high risk area.

Throughout ALL of lockdown, we were in the office every day working as normal.

We were told by management unequivocally that even if we just had a quick informal gathering in the office at Christmas, amongst ourselves – our group of 9 who all worked in the same office day after day – it was not allowed.

We weren’t even sure we would be allowed the usual Christmas decorations in the office (infection control, innit).

So you can imagine how incensed I was when Michael Fabricant tried to insinuate that nurses and teachers were sitting in staff rooms drinking after shifts.

Our reward for all our rule following and hard work over the last two years? A pay rise that’s still a cut in real terms.

    Oh, and claps every Thursday.

This government can do one, they are the absolute WORST.

  17. I say this regularly, the “they’re all as bad as each other” mantra is the single greatest piece of propaganda the Tories have ever pushed into the British public

The other parties have their faults, sure – but that doesn’t mean they’re all sides of the same coin (/dice, whatever)

  18. They are trying to make people the same as they are, so then what ever they, no matter how bad it is, it becomes normal and acceptable. Just like, when a child observes there parents behaviour, it becomes normal behaviour. And that is the influence this government will put on to some of the younger people. Just tell lies, and break the rules.

  19. All the talk of the government’s “hypocrisy” on this is lowkey baffling to me. To make yourself exempt from the rules you yourself imposed is the whole *point* of being in power. Where are people getting this idea that there’s some code of honour that the ruling party has to be held to the same standards as the plebs they rule over? Not how shit works or has ever worked.

  20. True they are a bunch of dispicable crooks who would step over your twitching body if they thought it would help themselves.

    Still better than Labour though.

  21. I fell out with a friend because I was living alone and part of my girlfriends extended household but that wasn’t good enough for them. In the end they caved and started seeing their partner in a separate household. Meaning, they broke the rules and I didn’t. (if you’re living alone you’re just part of the household of who you’re with)

But I didn’t even get to hug my father until he died of cancer in March 2021. I was not having birthday parties. On his request, to protect others he didn’t even get a funeral.
