Louis Thomas Buffon, son of Italian legend and World Cup winner Gigi Buffon, shone in the U19 European Championship qualifiers, scoring a hat-trick for the Czech Republic against Azerbaijan.

The 17-year-old, who plays for Italian club Pisa, has chosen to represent the country of his mother, Czech TV presenter and model Alena Seredova.

Unlike his father, one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, Louis plays as a striker. He led the Czech Republic’s attack in a 6-1 win over Azerbaijan in Ta’Qali, starring in the match with his first hat-trick at U19 level in his five appearances for the national team. He also provided an assist.

His career began in the Juventus academy, before moving to Pisa in the summer of 2023. Louis made his Serie A debut on October 5 of this year against Bologna, working under coach Alberto Gilardino, also a World Cup winner in 2006.

This new performance by Buffon shows his great potential and is putting him in the spotlight of European football as a promising striker. /Telegraph/
