Boris Johnson GMB interview: PM in cost of living gaffe over pensioner forced to ride on buses to keep warm

  1. The Lorraine bit at the end was epic 3D chess, even though I despise the man.

All everyone will be talking about is that, and not the car crash interview content.

  2. I swear the man has been installed to convince voters that all politicians are fucking morons therefore there’s no point in voting for any of them. (Thus keeping the status quo)

  3. The clip of this bit was such a terrible look for him. I saw it on their Twitter and the interviewer wasn’t having any of his answers. She had all her researched points in front of her too and could confidently hit back at any of the claims he was making whereas normally the interviewer would allow him to get away with it.

  4. “freedom bus pass”

Why do people keep on swallowing the shallow bullshit sound bites this dickhead keeps on coming out with?

What next, the freedom Boris bikes? The freedom vaccination?

  5. ‘We’re doing everything we can to help with the pressures on family budgets’

Another lie. Even in the context of that phrase not literally meaning *everything,* I don’t see a windfall tax on oil and gas producers.

  6. I will give Boris Johnson credit.

He’s incredible at convincing people he’ll be good at a job, if you gave it to him.

But he’s actually fucking terrible at the execution of job he’s been hired for.

  7. Some points from the broadcast;

1: the interview was supposed to start at 8:15am, but yet Johnson purposely turned up late (in his own office none the less) for the interview. He turned up at 8:30am, taking away an extra 15mins of possible questioning.

2: He never prepped. Again Johnson never prepared for the interview. It was chaotic & cack-handed in equal measure.

3: He spoke all over Reid and never let her talk. Again shambolic.

4: Reid made a mistake by talking about Ukraine in the first question, giving Johnson a chance to waffle nonsense.

5: The question around ‘Elsie’ caught Johnson offguard. It was good to see the lack of a mental process in Johnson. He didnt know how to respond.

6: He looked drunk & erratic.

*God Help us if he gets back in*.

  8. Johnson is not going to do anything to help. It cannot be said enough but he did nothing to help in the Spring Budget and he will do nothing to help now. He might make some vague promises and we might see some token gestures, however we will see nothing that will actually make any difference to the average person. They pretend to care but even that facade is slipping, although some still believe a plan is on the way for some reason. The Tories have had twelve years to reverse the damage of the 2008 financial crisis and have failed spectacularly, if they get another twelve years in power then we will see the same with the cost of living crisis.

  9. “Prime Minister, you can’t say anything to help Elsie can you?”

“No – because what we are doing is making sure we take the steps now to invest in our energy…”

So no, they won’t help Elsie because they’d rather Energy companies make record profits from the situation.

  10. I found it telling that when faced with the question of what a pensioner should do when she is riding free buses all day to avoid being home and using expensive energy, the first thing he did was to try and take credit for the free buses *being his idea !!!*…

way to *utterly* miss (or avoid) the actual point.

  11. The fact that Susanna Reid, that’s not a slight on her either, had Boris on the ropes the entire time says volumes about how inept he is. They weren’t even “gotcha” questions, fucking state of it.

  12. If you believe boris is a buffoon you arent paying attention. You dont quote greek epics in greek from memory if you’re a moron.

These stories don’t matter, they are a smokescreen. As soon as the press shine a light on something you should look in the shadows.

Amazing how a week ago we were asking whether he had been fined and now he has a “carcrash” interview isnt it.

They are playing the game at a level most people dont know exists.

View everything he does as a way to make him and his chosen elite have safe 6 or 7 figure “consultant” roles after their time in parliament and it all starts to make a lot more sense.

The plebs dont matter and labour is a mess they have no need to play politics because they cant lose so it doesnt matter if the plebs are happy or not.

Give as many companies you like as many contracts/ advantages as you can then they pay you absurd sums to be an after dinner speaker forever.

Its faster to get that via politics than any actual business talent.

And no, no one will revolt or rebell because we all just sat at home and did nothing for two years because the govt said so. So they know as a population we are capable of compliance.

Brexit was a good idea because it got rid of any objective oversight for them, covid showed them we’ll broadly do as we’re told even when they close companie down and offer a pittance in return.

If you think thats all a conspiracy theory then they’ve got you right where they want you, infighting and quiet. You think these powerful, nepotistic leadership cults teach these kids that people on benefits deserve x, y or z? Wake up.

Boris isnt a buffoon, he’s already won and he and his family will be absurdly wealthy for the rest of their lives and for generations to come, as will his friends and theirs.

Boris is Sauron diaguised as Annatar Lord of gifts, dressed up as a jester. What did Annatar do? Oh yeah convinced the Numenorean king to invade valinor dooming his kingdom…

Whats that? We only got a £150 reduction and a loan in october to combat the biggest cost of living increase in memory… I wonder what that will do? Oh yeah keep us all hungry, cold and quiet.

  13. 300 million sent to Ukraine for weapons purchasing alone, and people can’t heat their homes over here. They must think we are all fools

  14. At what point do we riot, genuinely.

Pensioners condemned to eat one meal a day and ride buses (if they’re lucky enough to have a vaguely functioning local bus service) to stay warm, literally freezing and starving to death, while BP announce highest profits in a decade (£5bn in the last quarter).

It’s disgusting, how can we let this happen? How does this vile, lying criminal continue to get away with it?

  15. There was a poll recently i saw “Do you think Boris is incompetent?”.

The truthful answer is no. Hes incredibly competent. Just corrupt, self servingamd uncaring of the people hes supposed to serve.

I pray the Tories get a kicking in this weeks council elections.

  16. I wish when she’d asked if he was honest, she’d followed up by asking whether it was honest of him to cheat on his wife.

  17. I could imagine bojo jonsun and pals getting loads of poor people into a ring to fight for scraps of bread and then harvesting the intact organs after to sell on the black market.

Some kind of satanic poverty fight club perhaps.

  18. Bojo: look peasants, I’ve let you ride the peasant wagon for free to stay warm and I don’t get any gratitude for it. People can be so inconsiderate nowerdays.

  19. What is the obsession with pensioners?

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was in acknowledgement that they’re the group that’s best off and therefore if they’re struggling then everyone else must be fucked. But intsead it’s blatantly dishonest pretending that they’re an economically downtrodden group that are getting the all the negative consequences of politics.

  20. This absolute Nutella shit waffle needs ousting and deporting to Greenland. I’m struggling to get by each month and this Cadbury cunt cream claims he is doing all he can to help us?

He’s doing all he can to shaft us.

  21. In my opinion this is because he’s so used to talking and thinking in soundbytes. He doesn’t give a shit – doesn’t empathise.

Therefore he hears “travels on busses to keep warm” and thinks saying “we made bus passes cheaper” will placate the person asking and score some points.

Narcissists are like a shit artificial intelligence that just wants people to adore them but don’t realise the importance of empathy.

  22. Would really like them to start asking these pensioners who they voted for?

Not as a “well you got what you wanted” moment but just to really hammer it home that this is what these people got in exchange for voting tory which the vast majority of pensioners do.

Really don’t think this issue gets talked about enough.

  23. I love this woman. When she asked “What else should Elsy cut back on?” the look in Boris face was hilarious.

  24. Cannot say we weren’t warned about this cunt, many times. Be it the zip wire, the tv show appearances, the flip flop on Brexit, backing bankers at the height of the financial crisis, multiple affairs and sackings from previous jobs, and finally, that pre-election confession that he bizarrely makes model busses in his spare time.

  25. >But he refused to say he would place a windfall tax on energy companies to help raise more money for those in need, saying “it would discourage them from making the investments that we want to see that will, in the end, keep energy prices lower for everybody”.

    This is always the excuse.

However, I haven’t seen many people correct them by saying its a tax on Profits – if they ploughed loads of money into investing in their infrastructure, green energy, and the like – their profits would go down…

Their profits are, by definition, the money left over AFTER investing in better infrastructure or green energy and the other associated costs with running their business.

If they were actually investing in this country properly, they wouldn’t have such a “windfall” to be taxed by a windfall tax.

  26. “Just to remind you that the 24-hour freedom bus pass was something that I introduced,”

not like a pensioners bus pass has been a feature of our society for donkeys years or anything…

  27. They do not care how many of us die as long as they remain wealthy as they do not see us as equal, we’re the chattle the business of England runs on. We should all go on strike.

  28. What really stings is that he’s happy to talk about the £300,000,000 the government are giving Ukraine and whilst WE ABSOLUTELY SHOULD help them out, how can we as a country justify giving that much to aid another country when the idiots in charge can’t justify even a fraction of that to stop our own citizens from having to ration food and freeze in their own homes? Why is it the citizens that constantly have to tighten their belts when the corporations post record breaking profits again and again because these fucking assholes don’t just want lots of money, they want ALL OF THE MONEY EVER and they don’t care how much that hurts people, as long as they beat last quarters profits
