Taiwan’s foreign minister Lin Chia-Lung said Taiwan wants closer ties with Israel, calling it one of the few countries in the Middle East that openly supports Taiwan.
He thanked Israel for backing Taiwan’s right to join global organizations and said Taiwan will be “friendly to countries that are friendly to us.”
Lin also criticized the Palestinian Authority for siding with China’s “One-China” policy, which rejects Taiwan’s independence. His comments show growing friendship between Taiwan and Israel.
Taiwan’s president recently said Israel’s defense system is a model for Taiwan’s own “T-Dome” air defense project, comparing Taiwan’s situation to David facing Goliath.
