‘Little to No Measurable Progress’ on Climate as World on Track for 2.6°C: Report | “Without rapid, deep emissions cuts—over 50% by 2030—overshooting 1.5°C becomes ever more likely, with severe consequences for people and ecosystems,” one expert said.

  1. It’s crazy that nobody takes into account committed warming. Even if we stopped all emissions *today*, we’d still overshoot 1.5C.

  2. So +5C. They always halve the estimates for the public.

  3. We really need to block what sublight we can from the sun so that we can maintain polar and ice albedo.

  4. Why are we talking about 1.5C? That’s a forgone conclusion at this point

  5. most models predict that if we cut emissions today we would still see increases thanks to feedback cycles that decrease surface albedo and increase heat retention. we’re cooked

  6. We went from what, 3.5 to 2.6 C estimated? Thats significant movement, even if it fails to reach the target.

Worse than we wanted but better than we were
