Finns wanted to be be neutral, Finns wanted to co-operate and have good relations both politically and economically. But we are not stupid. Russians destroyed all that by their politics and invasions. Finns will not wait for their turn to be attacked when currently Russia is in no position to open a new war front. It’s all on Putler. ”Look in the mirror” like the president said.
Finland joining would be a great thing for Europe’s security. Finns can hold their own, as long as there’s additional fronts in the baltics. Makes Russians think twice about aggression. Not to mention the significancy of control of the baltic sea should a war be started by the Russians. These added stakes pretty much guarantee peace.
And finally we are cracking the biggest Russian excuse

Seriously, just imagine when Finland and Sweden are officially part of NATO. Just imagine how much of a fucked up mess Putin has created and how he’s gonna spin it as a win.
Russia will lie and deflect no matter what, there’s no point in ever thinking about if it gives Putin ammo or not to spread his bullshit. He will take anything and make it into something.
