Yesterday evening and last night heat records were reached in many parts of Latvia, according to the Latvian Centre for Environment, Geology and Meteorology.
The highest temperature yesterday evening was in Mērsrags, where it reached 12.4 degrees, a new national heat record for 13 November. The highest temperature on this date was previously recorded in 2019 in Daugavpils, where it was 12.2 degrees.
After midnight, the air temperature in many parts of Latvia rose, reaching a record high on 14 November. The warmest weather overnight was in Rīga, where the temperature rose to 12.9 degrees, a new national record for 14 November. The previous record in 2019 was set in Ainaži, where it was 12.7 degrees.
In total, eight observation stations set heat records last night, while 13 stations set historic highs after midnight.
Today, the weather will turn slightly cooler as north-westerly winds will pick up and be mostly slow.
There will be a little rain in places, but the sun will shine at times.
Maximum air temperature +5 to +10 C.
In Rīga, the day will pass without significant precipitation. Some sunshine. Slight north-westerly wind. Air temperature during the day will be in the range of +6 C to +8 C.
