The Czech Armed Forces hold their largest military exercise this year at Orlen Unipetrol’s refineries at Litvínov and Kralupy nad Vltavou, announced the company. The “HRADBA 2025” military training focuses on protecting critical infrastructure between 17 November and 21 November.

“Emphasis is placed on current hybrid threats, particularly anti-drone protection, which has become an essential component of defensive measures in recent years,” said Jaroslav Hrabec, Deputy Commander of the Territorial Forces of the Czech Armed Forces and Exercise Director.

The simulation will involve active reserve soldiers from land defence battalions, testing coordination within the integrated rescue system and the readiness of armed and security forces to address contemporary security threats. The military drills at both production sites are coordinated with ORLEN Unipetrol’s management. The security activities will not restrict production operations at the refineries.

“The current geopolitical situation in Europe poses numerous economic and, above all, security challenges,” said Mariusz Wnuk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group. “Over the past two years, in cooperation with state authorities, we have successfully transitioned the Czech Republic to new crude oil sources. We are now collaborating to assess the security and military protection of our refineries, which form part of the country’s critical infrastructure. In addition to the Czech Army, we are working closely with the Czech Police to enhance the security of our facilities.”
