  1. >The government has decided that Sweden will apply for membership in NATO, says Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) at a press conference together with M-leader Ulf Kristersson.

    >Andersson says that the threshold for conflict in our immediate area is being raised with Swedish membership, and that the government has announced to NATO that it wants to become a member country.

    > – It is now clear that there is a broad majority in Sweden’s Riksdag for Sweden to join NATO, says the Prime Minister.

    >She describes it as a historic shift. Ulf Kristersson says that both S and M agree that membership in NATO provides increased security. However, Russia will not like this, he says. Both Finland and Sweden must be ready for misinformation, threats, and “hostile efforts”, according to Kristersson.

    >The government has also decided on a bill that will enable Sweden to receive military support from all EU and NATO countries.

  2. I could not be more pleased that we will apply in coordination with Finland, and that our two largest parties have agreed to cooperate during the application process regardless of which party (block) wins the upcoming election.

  3. Unbelievable that we’re seriously discussing military alliances but here we are.
Glad to be on the same side of those mad vikings in any case.
