Just a little background on the video that made me curious to ask this question: This Match was held at IT Carlow and the fighter in Red is Eoghan Chelmiah. Eoghan is now a PhD student and the first Irish Champion in Karate Combat.
Nice clip..
It has a decent enough presence in colleges. I was a member of the UCC club for 3 years in the mid-2000s and training sessions would easily have 20-30 regularly and maybe 10-15 competing at events.
Great sport to take up in college as it’s quite beginner friendly and you fight at a similar level. You get absolutely schooled when you go up against someone from a normal boxing club as they have typically been training since an early age.
