The officer who was accompanying the motorcade of U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance was injured in a crash in the town of Meriville, Tennessee.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred during security for the motorcade.

According to reports, the incident occurred Friday evening; Officer Justin Brown and another state highway patrol officer were involved in the motorcade’s security.

As a result of the crash they both were injured: Brown sustained more serious injuries, he received emergency care on the scene, and later in critical condition he was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service confirmed that J. D. Vance was also in the motorcade.
