The head coach of the Ukraine national football team, Serhiy Rebrov, commented on the 2:0 victory over Iceland in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. After this decisive win, the blue-and-yellow will continue to fight in the playoff matches for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
According to the Ukrainian Association of Football’s press service, since the start of the confrontation all players gave their all to the game, the team’s head coach said.
«From the first minute, all players gave their all to the game. I believe we had chances, and we were a team focused on the result. The players who came off the bench were able to refresh the game. At the end of the match we created very good moments and converted them. We pressed, showing that we want to win. But they (the Icelanders) defended very tightly; it was hard to find space. The chances arose mostly after long-range shots. After substitutions we were able to intensify the press, push more into the penalty area – and this paid off. This is the achievement of everyone»
