Apparently there are multiple different versions of Bolesław. Source: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolesław_(given_name)
It can be Boleslaus, Boleslaw, or Boleslav. The wikipedia article isn’t the only source I see who interchange them.

Why is Bolesław the only one with the diacritic velarized L? Are the other names pronounced differently?

I appreciate any help.

  1. Boleslaus is a Latin version, Boleslav is a Czech version, Boleslaw is a German one and these languages don’t use Ł sound. In Polish only Bolesław is used.
