  1. “It’s going to pass with a supermajority and I can’t stop it, so let’s lean into it and come up with a Plan B.”

  2. He realized he couldn’t convince the Republicans, so he’s siding with them to make it look like he’s still in charge.

  3. They fucking really did it didn’t they? They went all in to protect a child rapist by falsifying the record.

  4. How do we know whether or not the DOJ tampered with the files to make it look bad for the Democratic Party? I see tons of redditors saying a majority of Republicans are gonna vote yes because of optics and all that, but I have a feeling they’ve been told by the administration that the files are good to go and they’ll all be safe.

  5. Plan b time. “Not true, these emails aren’t true, see I’ve been transparent”

  6. Guess they finally finished doctoring and/or destroying everything that incriminates him

  7. He doesn’t want that added humiliation of everyone voting to release them when he said not to. Worried about republicans realizing they do in fact have the ability to say fuck off to trump.

  8. He has no choice.

It’s untenable to fight his own party on this and Republicans made clear they were voting to release.

    Trump lives day to day.

Now he has to react to whatever is in them and hope he can survive.

Either way he is severely weakened.   He may even be actually toast.  We will find out.

  9. Sounds like they burned all the relevant pages over the weekend

  10. ‘Cause he hid what he could.

Someone has the real unedited files somewhere. See who’s brave enough to just release them to the public.

  11. Didn’t 1000 FBI agents take a month scrubbing his name?

  12. He used the words, “whatever they’re legally entitled to,” which means they’re going to use the DOJ’s investigation into Clinton to block the release of the damning stuff. Can’t think of any other reason he would use wording that specific.

  13. They delayed it long to get rid of trumps name, he must’ve been all over it they’ve been stalling since the summer.

  14. They opened an investigation regarding the contents of these files conveniently timed before the vote so they can claim certain aspects need to be redacted or kept hidden from the public to protect the integrity of the investigation

  15. They’ve already found a way to block it.

Senate won’t vote to release it, or since the DOJ is investigating it they can’t release it therefore him saying this is clear as day theatrics.

  16. It’s literally his tax returns all over again. “I’d love to show my tax returns, but there’s an audit” “I’d love to release the Epstein docs, but there’s an active investigation”.

  17. Didn’t he task a shit ton of fbi guys to take him out of the files? I guess they’ finished today.

  18. It’s too late. They’ve already tampered with the documents and whatever comes out isn’t going to have credibility

  19. They definitely scrubbed his name out of the remaining ones

  20. Because he knows that DOJ is gonna say they can’t release anything because there’s ongoing investigations, which he just called for two days ago….

  21. Remember when they were going overtime to scrub the files? This is why.

  22. “Nothing to hide” after having 1000 FBI agents scrub out prominent Republican names from the documents.

  23. We all know how this is going to play out: Bondi will announce the Epstein files are evidence in an ongoing investigation “against Democrats mentioned in the files” and can’t be released, saving Trump from having to veto it and giving him cover to say “I wanted to release them”.

  24. He’s knows things have been scrubbed and anything that does turn up, he will claim as fake.

  25. This is due to one of the following: 1) it’s inevitable and he knows it. By saying this it makes it appear he’s in control. 2) DOJ opening a new investigation means they can’t release anything related to an open investigation. 3) DOJ have already scrubbed anything more incriminating.

  26. The UNREDACTED files!

We all know they scrubbed his name from all of the files.

  27. He also started an investigation. Which means they can’t release the files until investigation is done. Blondi won’t finish the investigation for a very long time.

  28. They’re just going to release redacted files and tell congress to get fucked. Setting up another constitutional crisis.

  29. 1) The document is most likely INSANELY redacted.

    2) There isn’t anything to release. He ordered the DOJ to investigate the list. So, even if the vote passes 100% to release it, the DOJ will say no, because it is part of an on-going investigation.

This fat child rapist didn’t change his tone, he knows it will never see the light of day.

  30. It’s not irrational to think his team is protecting him for him to pivot so quickly. clearly we won’t get the truth. Not really sure we ever will to be honest, and it’s an injustice to these victims. Now it’s only up to the court of public opinion to keep trump on edge.

  31. The cook is finished. We will never see the unaltered files.
