The Fishers Event Center is celebrating its one-year anniversary Nov. 22 with a look back at a successful year of exceeding goals for sports and entertainment events and looking ahead at plans to maintain that momentum into its second year.

General Manager Mitch List said the center set an ambitious goal for its first year, with plans to host at least 120 events. It ended up with 125.

“If we look from a perspective of touring shows — obviously, opening night Turnpike Troubadours was a pretty special one,” he said, recalling some highlights of the past year. “Having Blake Shelton here was incredible — just such a huge name in the country music space. Also having Megan Moroney, upcoming country music star, selling tons of tickets — that one was phenomenal. We had the two sold-out Leanne Morgan shows. That was our first double show (and) first female comedian in the building. That was great. And then, having the three sports teams play over 60 games in the building. So, really busy on the sports side.”

Fishers Event Center is home to the Indy Fuel hockey team, Indy Ignite professional volleyball team and Fishers Freight indoor football team. In addition to all those teams’ home games, the center hosted the Professional Volleyball Federation’s All-Stars match that was broadcast nationally on CBS.

PVF has since merged and rebranded as Major League Volleyball.

List noted that attendance was strong for local sports teams, particularly the Indy Fuel.

“They did very well, especially considering that they were on the road through or up until the first week of December (2024),” he said. “Typically, an ECHL hockey season starts in the middle of October. So, we still played all 36 of their home games here in Fishers but it was a really condensed schedule, which can make it a little harder to sell tickets, certainly. And they still exceeded expectations.”

He added that touring shows — the concerts and comedians — also sold well.

“I think probably 90 percent of the shows up through the spring were at least like 90 to 95 percent sold out or above — the market responded,” he said. “We’re so thankful that there’s a lot of support in Fishers and Hamilton County and the greater region for the types of shows that we were able to get here.”

There was a slowdown over the summer, he said, which is typical. But the Fishers Freight season ran through July and there were other bookings — like local high school graduations and private events — that kept employees busy until the season picked up again this fall.

List, a Fishers resident, said it’s pretty special to have a venue like the Fishers Event Center in the community.

“To be able to provide world-class entertainment here, where you don’t have to drive far to go see it or to go to a sporting event … it’s great to have those in the marketplace, but also a place for the community to gather,” he said. “We like doing the high school events, especially the local ones, like the Mudsock basketball game. That was a really special one last year. It’s been fun being able to provide world-class entertainment and sporting events, but also still kind of be that gathering place for the city.”

To celebrate its first year, FEC has partnered with King Jugg Brewing Co., which created a special Fishers Event Center lager that can be purchased only at the center.

“We’ve also got a Fishers Event Center branded bourbon that will be available Nov. 22, so that’ll be a special one,” he said, “And then we’ll do a good amount of ticket giveaways and deals and things like that for upcoming shows, too — and get some more shows announced.”

What’s on deck

In addition to Indy Fuel and Indy Ignite home games, some upcoming Fishers Event Center bookings include the Amy Grant holiday tour Dec. 4, Mudsock basketball games Dec. 19 and the Professional Championship Bull Riders Tour, set for Jan. 10, 2026.

FEC General Manager Mitch List said hosting the touring rodeo will involve building special chutes for the 2,000-pound bulls and adding a thick layer of dirt on the center floor.

A little later into 2026 is the Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms concert benefiting Hamilton Southeastern Education Foundation, set for Feb. 20.
