A strong storm accompanied by torrential rains has hit the Goriska region in Slovenia, causing flooding, landslides and significant damage to infrastructure.
The situation is most difficult in the Goriška Brda area, and problems have also been recorded in the municipalities of Kanal ob Soči and Tolminsko, reports Telegrafi.

According to Sam Kosmac, commander of the regional civil protection headquarters for Northern Primorska, flash floods and rainwater penetrated numerous buildings in the municipalities of Brda and Kanal ob Soči overnight.

Firefighters and civil defense had about fifteen interventions, and recovery operations are still ongoing.

Several smaller landslides have also been recorded that do not currently threaten residential buildings, but some roads have been closed because of them.

According to data from the traffic information center, the Dobrovo – Neblo regional road is closed due to flooded asphalt, while on the Solkan – Gonjače section, between Kojsko and Gonjače, traffic is alternating in one lane.

In the Goriska hills, landslides buried several roads, and a bridge was completely destroyed. Major damage was also caused to the electricity infrastructure.

In Vishnjevik, a concrete pole of a transmission line was swept away by a landslide, which left about 200 users without electricity. In Shlovrec, a landslide moved another pole, so 80 families are without electricity. /Telegraph/
