A Fayetteville-founded business is on the verge of expanding in a big way, creating dozens of new jobs in the process.

Packaging Specialties was founded in Fayetteville in 1974. The company’s website says it is a provider of printed film and packaging services. Leaders with the city of Fayetteville and Washington County gathered Monday to celebrate Packaging Specialties $24 million investment to expand its manufacturing operations in Fayetteville. The Fayetteville-based company has 473 total employees nationwide. 254 of those are located in Fayetteville with a hundred more set to be added in Fayetteville. The mayor says having more available jobs plays into the city’s mission of creating more housing options.

“If we have more good paying jobs, that helps people get into the homes that we are hopefully building,” Rawn said.

Rawn says this expansion project highlights the importance of partnership between local business owners and government leaders.

“You know, they’ve sponsored little league teams and parks and rec and have really given back,” Rawn said. “And so, whenever we can talk to a family-owned business like that, whose made their home in Fayetteville for so long, they’re really part of the fabric of our community.”
