WANA (Nov 18) – A written message from the President of Iran was delivered to the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia during an official meeting in Riyadh. The letter was handed over by the head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization to the Saudi Minister of Interior as part of a bilateral discussion held at the ministry’s headquarters.
According to the Saudi official news agency, the minister received the message during talks with the Iranian delegation, where both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. Senior Saudi officials — including deputy interior ministers, the chief of public security, and directors responsible for research, legal affairs, and international cooperation — attended the meeting. The Iranian ambassador to Saudi Arabia was also present.
The message is viewed as part of the ongoing process to strengthen diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Riyadh. This trend has gained momentum since the two countries agreed to restore political relations, opening the door for further cooperation on matters such as the Hajj and regional security.
After years of strained ties, diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia were restored in March 2023 following intensive negotiations between senior officials of both countries in Beijing. The delivery of this message is seen as a continuation of that rapprochement.
