WANA (Nov 18) – An Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister announced that there is sufficient evidence to pursue legal action regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent admission of direct involvement in the military operation against Iran.
During a meeting of Iran’s Supreme Judicial Council on Monday, November 17, 2025, Chief Justice Mohseni-Ejei referred to Trump’s explicit remarks acknowledging his role in the 12-day attack on Iran, describing them as a “clear confession.” He emphasized that such an admission carries specific consequences under established legal principles and international law, ordering the Attorney General and the Deputy for International Affairs of the Judiciary to prepare the grounds for addressing the case in domestic and international courts. He noted, “A confession is one of the most credible forms of evidence for proving a crime.”
Following these remarks, Saeed Khatibzadeh, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the Ministry’s Center for International Studies, stated that legal steps had been initiated from the very first days of the joint U.S.–Israeli military operation against Iran. According to him, even without Trump’s recent admission, the existing documentation was already sufficient to pursue the case.

Khatibzadeh referred to the official letter sent by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, to the United Nations, stressing that the United States’ responsibility in this joint military action is “a historical responsibility with no expiration date,” and that Iran’s right to seek accountability will remain valid at all times. He described Trump’s acknowledgment of directing the attack as “a major confession by a U.S. president regarding an assault on a sovereign nation and on peaceful nuclear facilities.”
He added that the legal process will advance step by step, explaining: “Our initial actions began after the formal statement by the U.S. president. The official letter has been sent, and the legal foundations will continue to be pursued. This undeniable right of the Iranian people will always be preserved.”
